At one game during the month of February, the 1970 undefeated national champion Cornell hockey team will return to Lynah Rink for a fortieth anniversary celebration.
At 29-0-0, they are the only unbeaten, untied, national championship team in NCAA college hockey history. Ned Harkness was their coach.

Gonna try again to comment; my two attempts yesterday failed.
ReplyDeleteIt must've been the occasion of the 25th anniversary the last time the team gathered for an event at Lynah. Of course, that time, Coach Harkness was still able to join them. I had the privilege of interviewing him at the time, and he was well-spoken, genuinely engaging, and just the sweetest man ever. I'm lucky I also got to chat with him a few times after he moved back to town before he passed away. Greatest coach of anything, anywhere, ever.
