A few things which might be of interest...
Todd Purdum of Vanity Fair has a massive article on Sarah Palin, in which for the first time, some well-respected members of the Republican establishment go on record as blaming her for some of the problems facing the McCain campaign last year. There are plenty of fun anecdotes in there, including the revelation that Todd Palin called supporters in South Carolina to ask them to keep Sarah's name in mind for 2012 -- before the election last November. The article is worth reading if you're into politics.
Another student blogger has some well-researched and interesting profiles of Cornell founding fathers Ezra Cornell and Andrew Dixon White.
Perhaps channeling President Obama, Provost Kent Fuchs tells the Chronicle he wants to fix Cornell's problems (namely the impending $150m budget shortfall) with "change and aspiration." As it likes to do with these things, Cornell has set up a fancy new website with lists of Very Important People, vague goals, and requests for community input.
There was more tragedy on the Red Line yesterday, as someone jumped in front of an oncoming train and was killed. My Orange Line train today broke down in the station immediately after I boarded, requriring all 600+ passengers to spill out onto the platform and wait for the broken train to be cleared. No one said getting to work was supposed to be fun.
